One of the friendliest states in America, Texas got its name from a Caddo Indian word which means 'friends'. Texas, as the Lone Star State is the twenty-eighth state to enter the Union and was admitted on December 29, 1845. Texas has five famous cities; Houston, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso and Dallas; San Antonio, Dallas and Houston being three of the most populated in America. Next to Alaska, Texas is the second largest US state and second as well when it comes to population, California being the first.

Of all the fifty states of America, it is only Texas where six flags that flew over it; France, Mexico, Spain, Confederate States, and Republic of Texas and of course the United States. Texas had gone through eight governmental changes before it has attained its present government. Texas enjoyed an independent republic status from 1836 to 1845 until it had been acquired by the US through a treaty.

Texas is the birthplace of two former US Presidents; Dwight David Eisenhower who served as the thrity-fourth president from 1953 to 1961 and Lyndon Baines Johnson who became the thirty-sixth president with total serving years of six from 1963 to 1969.
