In 1881 Lebeus E. Smith, the town of Putnam’s first Mayor established the business. He was joined by Leon N. Walker in 1918 and became a partner of the business in 1919. Mr. Walker became the sole owner in 1936. In April of 1960 the Smith & Walker Funeral Home merged with the L.A. Robinson Funeral Home, operated by Mr. Robinson and Mr. Earl Gagnon, which resided at our current location.
