History

Colville is a city in Stevens County, Washington County, Washington, United States. It is the county seat of Stevens County, Washington County .

The Hudson's Bay Company established Fort Colville near the Kettle Falls fur trading site in 1825. In 1859, the US Army established a new Fort Colville at Pinkney City, about 1.5 miles NE of the current city of Colville. The population was 4,988 at the 2000 United States Census census. That fort was abandoned in 1882 and the city was moved the present location on the Colville River Valley.
