History

It is located along the California State Route 254, also known as Avenue of the Giants. It was a lumber camp and a stagecoach stop for people traveling to San Francisco. Much of the town was destroyed in the flood of 1964. The town has 1 general store, the Four Mori Market; a coffee/espresso shop called The Daily Grind; The Trading Post saloon; Drive Through Tree; an antique and used item store, Latz in the Flats; To Dye For store that does custom empbriodery as well as unique tie-dye clothing; Riverbend Cellars Winery; the Groves restaurant; The Myers Inn, a bed and breakfast; and the Knights Restaurant(now closed). Today, the town lies below the 100 year flood line and much of the land cannot be built on.
