History
The boys have also had tremendous success in basketball, collecting 5 state championships in 12 trips to the state tournament since 1980, including the 2006 & 2007 1A-II championships. The town of Nazareth was established through the efforts of a Catholic priest, Joseph Reisdorff, who moved to the site in 1902 with four farmers interested in purchasing land in the area. Among them, the Nazareth Swiftettes have won 18 state championships (including the 2007 1A-II championship), a current public school national record. As late as the mid-1980s about 85 percent of the town's residents were Catholics, and church activities helped to bond the community together. Since 1976, the Swiftettes have been to the Final Four of the state tournament 22 times.
