History

Maple Valley's name was originally Vine Maple Valley. The city's school district is called Tahoma (Coming from 'Ta'ylor Creek, 'Ho'bart and 'Ma'ple Valley). According to the Washington Place Names database, the name Maple Valley was chosen by George Ames in 1888, not for the maples trees of the area but for the Maple family, who had settled on the Duwamish River before the Denny Party arived at Alki Point, Seattle Point. The original Tahoma High School was built in 1926. Maple Valley is a city in King County, Washington County, Washington, United States.
