The Herr Family Gottlieb Moritz Wilhelm came to Collinsville in 1851 with his parents. After serving with the Union Army, he went to work for the Peers Planning Mill where he learned the art of woodworking. In 1870, Mr. Wilhelm went into the business of furniture, coffin making, and undertaking.

David Harris had many admirable qualities but his ablility to live with the thought that with his heart damage from an illness, that he was living with an uncertain future took much courage. Not many of us could look death in the eye and challenge it as he did. He never gave in to a "Poor Me" attitude. He lived every day with a gusto attitude. He loved his history books, his organic gardening of roses using his own compost treasure . He was all about what was good for the envoirnment and for those who follow. His roses were beautiful. He was an animal lover and had rescued each of his adoped,abused pets giving them a good home beyond measure. it was a pleasure to know him. Bob & Mary Thouvenot
