History

Other early towns in the county were White Salmon, Washington Salmon, Lyle, Bingen, Washington Glenwood, Washington Dallesport, Washington and Bickleton, Washington all still in existence. This was John Golden who helped the town get started. The loss of tax base has taken its toll on the funds available for maintaining the city's infrastructure. The population within city limits was 3,760 at the 2000 United States Census census. Wind is abunant in the Klickitat Valley and has given a bright future to Goldendale with the installation of wind turbines.
